I had lots of help from a number of people in creating the Fairport High School Swim Team web site. I'd like to thank each and every one of them. Some of the people who provided significant information are mentioned below. I've also tried to attribute each year's team to the one person who provided the bulk of the information for that year. Thanks, everyone!
Thanks to the people who produced the "banquet books" during my years on the team: Carole Kent and others. Thanks to my brother, Dave Anderson (1989) who helped out a lot with the teams from 1988 to 1992. Thanks to John Mulhall (1979) who was kind enough to send me a nostalgic e-mail describing Gary Clark's first years as a coach during the mid 1970s. Thanks to Mike Fortner (1982) who sent me an e-mail describing the teams from the early 1980s. Mike also sent pictures of the 1980, 1981 and 1982 teams. Thanks to Fred (1981) and Dennis (1984) Eggert who provided information for the teams from the early 1980s. Thanks to Ryan Callan (1997) who had tons of information (and pictures) on the teams from the mid 1990s. Bonnie Carr (Lyons) (1980) provided a lot of information on the girls teams from the late 1970s. Pete Letteney (2004) gave me some pictures from 2004. Tim Jacobs (2005) has provided pictures and information for the 2006 team. Thanks to Doug Lyles (1979) for scanning in his yearbooks and sending them to me. Allison Jones (Jenner) (1998) gave me great information on the six years she was on the team between 1992 and 1997.
I'm also grateful to the people who maintain the Liverpool Swimming web site. The site contains a great scrapbook detailing the history of swimming at Liverpool High School. Liverpool, like Fairport, is one of the top high school swim teams in New York State. Their scrapbook mentions Fairport often. I'd also like to recognize the Newburgh Free Academy web site. This site is where I got most of the sectional and state meet results. They have an absolute ton of swimming data on every section in New York State. There's not always links to everything, but if you know how to work Google, you can find it. Again NFA is one of the perennial swimming powers in New York and they run into Fairport often. Of course, none of this would have happened without the influence of Marilyn Thomas, Gary Clark and my fellow swimmers from the 1980s. They helped make high school a happy memory for me. It was through them that I learned the value of hard work and perseverance.
