The Raiders traveled to Brockport for their last dual meet before the winter break on Dec. 18, and emerged with a 98-88 win.

Fairport claimed 1st, 3rd and 5th places in the first event, the medley relay. The team of Horowitz, Robbins, Benson, and Jake Bianchi touched for first with a time of 1:52.34. Dylan Scheemaker, Jon Steffen, Connor Harrington, and Brendan McLaughlin finished third while Kyle Mihaljevic, Brandon Georger, Tyler Santini, and Matt McGrath finished fifth.

The Raiders went 1-3-5 in the 200 freestyle by Peter Koenig, Beaudry, and Andrew Koenig.

Brockport took over the lead after the 50 free.

The Raider diving trio of Dhruv Tyagi, John Snelgrove, and Andrew Gasbarre placed 1-4-6 as Tyagi’s six dives totaled 252 points.

Brockport added to its lead by placing first and second in the 100 free.

Fairport was able to tie the score by sweeping the top three places in the 500 free on swims by Peter Koenig, Scheemaker, and Beaudry.

The Red Raiders took the lead for good in the 200 free relay. The team of Peter Koenig, Tyagi, McLaughlin, and Beaudry placed first, while Salehi, Benson, Harrington, and Steffen touched for second.

Fairport’s depth in the 100 back and 100 breast events was a key factor in increasing the margin. Scheemaker, Horowitz, and Bianchi scored a total of nine points by placing second, third and fourth, respectively, in the100 back. Mihaljevic, Robbins, and Georger went 1-3-5 in the 100 breast.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Robbins, Bianchi, Peter Koenig, and Horowitz placed second to secure the meet.

The JV team also traveled to Brockport on Dec. 18 and recorded a 100-68 victory.

The team kicked off the meet with a convincing win in the200 medley relay. Zarei, Rafoth, Vice, and King swam a season’s best 2:03.21 to claim first.

Rafoth (2:13.16) and Lopes followed up with first and third place finishes in the 200 free.

Vice and Keyes touched 1-2 in the 200 IM, and Dengler and Alex Glebov had strong swims in the 50 free.

Rakiewicz extended the Fairport lead with victories in the 50 fly and100 back, and along with Keyes, Lopes, and Zarei in the 200 free relay.

Vice took first in the 100 breast (1:21.05) as Fairport (Rafoth, Vice, Zarei, King) closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay.

Coach Steven Hawkins-Rusch said, “We’re completing our swims with 70 percent reaching best times status. Our three new freshmen swimmers are getting horizontal and improving with great energy.
