Fairport 118, Brighton 68 December 11, 2007 Fairport won nine out of12 events in handing Brighton a 118-68 defeat on Dec. 11. Both teams came to the pool with undefeated seasons. The 200 medley relay set the tone as Fairport took first and third place for a 10-4 lead. The team of Peter Koenig, Harrington, Scheemaker and Robbins led the entire race, posting a winning time of 1:43.95. The team of Tyagi, Mihaljevic, McLaughlin, and Bianchi came in third. Peter Koenig and Scheemaker were both double winners as Koenig won the 200 IM (2:06.43) and the100 back (55.78), as Scheemaker placed first in the 100 fly (56.70) and the 50 free (23.12). Other FHS first place winners included: Tyagi diving (277.15), Beaudry 100 free (50.97), Mihaljevic 100 breast (1:07.98), and the 200 free relay team of Beaudry, Scheemaker, McLaughlin, and Andrew Koenig.

Junior Varsity Update On Dec. 11, the JVs visited Brighton and started right off with Arshia Zarei, Zakk Vice, James Rafoth and Mike Lopes touching first in the 200 medley relay. Sean Keyes followed with a victory in the 200 free (2:14.20) as Ted Rakiewicz touched third. Rafoth swam a 2:26.87 to win the200 IM. The 50 free had Zarei finishing second followed by Alex Newton and Ben Dengler. Diver Andrew Gasbarre scored 89.20 points to claim first as fellow divers Steve Chan and Jeff Castellano completed the sweep. Fairport then extended the lead to 51-21 with Vice and Zarei touching 1-2 in the 100 fly. Brighton’s Efan Bennet won the 100 free with Fairport’s Lopes and Alex Newton swimming best times. Keyes was first (6:09.82) in the 500 free, and Rafoth, Keyes, Zareiand Rakiewicz won the 200 free relay. With wins by Vice in the 100 back and Rafoth in the 100 breast, Fairport sealed the 96-73 victory.
