numerous trips to the awards podium.

The Red Raiders were also an important cog in helping Section 5 place second at the state meet.

Fairport’s faithful had plenty to cheer about in the very first event. The 200 medley relay team of Peter Koenig, Jake Fisher, Dylan Scheemaker and Jim Beaudry placed second in an All-American time of 1:37.36.

Earlier, Fairport diver Dhruv Tyagi had placed seventh in the one-meter diving with 397.75 points. He was presented his medal, along with eighth-place finisher Max
Norris (389.80) from McQuaid at the first awards break.

In the second to last event of the afternoon, Fisher took starting block No. 3 in the finals of the 100 breast stroke. In a very close race, he touched first in an All-American time of 58.56. Fairport head coach Mike Kennedy led the celebration on the pool deck. Later, Kennedy was called upon to present the medals to the the top eight finishers.

Fisher’s win was the fourth straight victory for Section 5, however the locals finished

second in the sectional race to Section 1.

Placing on their qualifying times on Friday were: Fisher, 32nd in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.12; Chris Razavi, 43rd in the 200 IM in 2:05.66; Jim Beaudry, 46th, 100 free in 50.02; Peter Koenig, 16th 100 back in 54.96; and Razavi, 33rd in the 100 breast in 1:03.67.
