Fairport 88, Webster 98 January 11, 2007 Zack Wahl won two individual events and his team won all three relays as Webster defeated Fairport 98-88 in Monroe County boys swimming Thursday the Webster Aquatic Center. "This is the first time Webster has ever beaten Fairport, at least in my 30 years of coaching," Webster coach Darrell Byerts said. Wahl won the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.40) and 100 butterfly (56.89). Webster (6-2, 3-0) got off to a quick start in the meet. "Winning the 200 medley relay set the tone for the meet," Byerts said. "The boys showed they were ready to swim." The Warriors finished first and second in the 500 freestyle, and first and third in the 200 freestyle relay. Fairport won the next two events, but Webster won the final relay. Jake Fisher won the 200 individual medley (2:03.38) and 100 breaststroke (59.57) for the Red Raiders (5-3, 2-1).

Fisher wins 2 at Webster On Thursday, Jan. 11, the Fairport varsity swimming and diving team
traveled In this (much anticipated meet), Fairport swam well, but was unable to
come away with the win. Webster was primed, disappointed after their
crushing loss to the Red In the first event, the 200 medley relay, the team of Peter Koenig, Chris Razavi, Dylan Scheemaker and Brendan McLaughlin was out touched by .13 seconds. Taking third place for Fairport was the team of Nate Jones, Kyle Mihaljevic, Connor Harrington and Jake Robbins. Next up, the 200 freestyle, Jim Beaudry took second place, Jon Steffen came in fourth and Matt McGrath came in fifth place. Both Fairport captains swam in the 200 individual medley. Captain Jake Fisher came away with his first of two individual wins. Captain Chris Razavi finished third and Harrington took fifth place. Fisher’s time of 2:03.38 qualified him for the state meet in March. All three Red Raiders easily made the Section 5, Class A sectional cut time. In the 50 freestyle, the trio of Scheemaker, McLaughlin and Robbins took third, fourth and fifth place. Next was the much anticipated diving match-up. Freshman Dhruv Tyagi scored a personal best of 226.30. Freshman Jordan Ingerick dove to a fourth place finish and senior Colin Endsley took sixth place. In the 100 butterfly, all three Fairport swimmers had personal best times. Koenig came in second, Scheemaker third and Harrington sixth. Their times qualified them for the sectional meet. The 100 freestyle was one of the most exciting races of the night, as Beaudry came from behind and touched for the win. Jones and McLaughlin took fifth and sixth places, respectively. The trio of Steffen, McGrath and Salehi swam the 500 free, placing 3-4-6. Both McGrath and Salehi swam best times of the season. In a very close race, the 200 free relay team of Beaudry, Scheemaker,
McLaughlin and Fisher took second place, while Harrington, Kyle Kauffman,
Robbins and Steffen The 100 back was another close finish, with Koenig out touching the competition to take first place. Jones and Tyagi had strong swims for Fairport, taking fourth and fifth places, respectively. The next event, 100 breast, had the Fairport Red Raider fans on their
feet. Co- captains Jake Fisher and Chris Razavi lead the entire race coming
in first and second with Mihaljevic coming from behind to finish third.
Fisher’s impressive At this point, the Red Raiders were down by eight points. Fairport needed to finish first and second, in order to win the meet. Despite strong swims by both Fairport teams, the order of finish was 2-3. The team of Beaudry, Robbins, Fisher and Mihaljevic took second while Jones, Steffen, Koenig and Razavi touched for third. The final score was Fairport 88, Webster 98.

JV swimmers reach 6-0 overall With its 110-62 victory over Webster last week, the Fairport junior
varsity swim team The Raiders came off the blocks quickly with a 1-2 finish in the opening relay. Tyler Benson, Brandon Georger, Jonah King and Ted Rakiewicz finished first with a time of 2:06.11 with Andrew Koenig, Jim Rafoth, Zakk Vice and Tyler Santini touching second. Kyle Koehler’s 2:16.33 led a Fairport 1, 2, 3 sweep in the 200 free with Mike Lopes and Sean Keyes following him to the wall. Andrew Koenig completed the 200 IM in 2:44.54 to claim first with King second. With the score 35-10 Raiders, Tyler Santini led a 1, 2, 3 sweep in the 50 free. Santini’s 26.35 was followed up by Rakiewicz and Jon Nemeth. Diver Nick Greco placed second, with Peter Shipman fourth. Georger then led a Fairport sweep in the 100 fly with Tyler Benson and Jacob Bianchi taking second and third. Vice won the 100 free with a time of 59.29, Koehler claimed second. The 500 free had Koenig, Rafoth and Nemeth finishing 2, 3, and 4. The Raiders were not done as Santini, Bianchi, Georger and Vice took first in the 200 free relay and Koenig, Sean Keyes, Rafoth and Lopes finished first in the 400 relay.
