Fairport 95.5, Hilton 69.5

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Fairport hosted Hilton. In a solid performance, Fairport won by
a score of 95.5-69.5. Fairport’s overall record improved to 2-1, remaining undefeated in Section 5, Class A.

Fairport opened an early lead finishing first and third in the 200 medley relay. The
team of Nate Jones, Jon Steffan, Peter Koenig, and Jim Beaudry finished first. Both
Steffan and Koenig swam best times. The team of Brendan McLaughlin, Matt McGrath, Dhruv Tyagi, and Jake Fisher were touched out for second. McLaughlin, McGrath, and Tyagi all achieved personal bests.

Chris Razavi and Kyle Mihaljevic finished second and fourth, respectively, in
the 200 free. Both swimmers turned in best times, making the sectional cut.

Koenig, Beaudry, and Aria Salehi swept the 200 individual medley. All three swam
the sectional cut with Koenig and Salehi achieving best times.

With the help of Dylan Scheemaker, Jones, and Kyle Kauffman, Fairport’s lead
increased in the 50 free. Scheemaker took first with Jones and Kauffman in third
and fourth. Both Jones and Kauffman swam personal bests.

Freshman Dhruv Tyagi dominated the diving, scoring a season-high 212.50. Colin
Endsley turned in another personal best and took third place. Diving in two meets
this season, Tyagi is undefeated.

Fisher, Harrington, and Mihaljevic all swam best times in the 100 butterfly. Finishing
1-2-3, the best Hilton could manage was a tie for third with Mihaljevic.

Fairport’s strong performance continued in the 100 free. Steffan, Razavi, and McGrath captured 1-2-4 with best times.

All three Fairport entries in the 500 free swam exhibition. Fisher, Beaudry, and Salehi all swam strong races with Salehi finishing with a personal best. As soon as the race was over, all three Fairport swimmers were back in the pool for the
200 free relay. The team of Beaudry, Jones, Mihaljevic, and Steffan easily won the
relay. Mihaljevic and Steffan both swam best times. The team of Fisher, McGrath, Salehi, and Harrington turned in a solid exhibition performance.

Tyagi, McLaughlin, and Kauffman took first, third, and fourth in the 100 back. Tyagi
and Kauffman both swam personal bests. All three swimmers made the sectional cut.

For the last two events, all of Fairport’s entries swam exhibition. Steffan, Koenig,
and Scheemaker achieved best times in the 100 breast.

In the 400 free relay, McLaughlin, Koenig, Razavi, and Kauffman finished in 3:44.58. Kauffman’s anchor swim was his best this year. The team of Salehi, McGrath,
Jones, and Mihaljevic was right behind. Salehi, McGrath, and Jones all swam seasonal bests.

JV team improves to 2-0

The Fairport junior varsity swim team extended its record to 2-0 with a victory over
Hilton. On Dec. 12, the team hosted Hilton winning 102-58.

The 200 medley relay team of Jacob Horowitz, Brandon Georger, Kyle Koehler and Jacob Bianchi swam a 2:06.83 to take first. Second place was Fairport’s Andrew Koenig, Mike Lopes, Zakk Vice and Tyler Benson.

In the 200 free, Jonah King finished first with a time of 2:19.80 followed by Ted Rakiewicz in second. James Rafoth’s 2:34.84 in the 200 individual medley lead to a Raider 1, 2, 3 finish along with Horowitz and Lopes.

Bianchi completed the 50 free in 26.50 to claim first followed by Tyler Santini in second.

In a very close diving competition Peter Shipman's season-best score of 67.30 just missed a first place finish.

The first, second and third finishes in the 50 fly by Koehler (30.16), Jake Robbins and
Horowtiz was followed by a sweep in the 100 free. This event had Benson touching with a 59.45 followed by Jon Nemeth and King.

The Raiders were not done as Rafoth (6:20.32), Vice and King swept the 500 free.

In a close finish the 200 relay went to Georger, Benson, Rakiewicz and Ingerick who
narrowly beat teammates Koenig, Koehler, Santini and King to the wall.

Fairport swam the remaining events exhibition. In the 100 back, Robbins swam a 1:09.50 and Georger a 1:26.84 in the 100 breast. The 400 relay closed out the meet with Rakiewicz, Robbins, Koenig and Georger swimming a 4:17.73.
