On Thursday afternoon, Oct. 19, the Fairport She-Sharks saluted seniors Lauren Dufault, Jen Juncosa, Kelly O'Keefe, Carlyn Robby, Susan Yang and captains Tiffany Chiang, Erin McGraw and Morgan Reisch in the last home swim meet of their Fairport careers.

The girls were presented with gifts from juniors Emily Gardner, Stephanie Gross, Andrea Hageman, Meghan Ingerick, Brenna O'Neill, Carrie Ostrom, Nicole Stuver, Devina Tyagi and Staci Woytash. Coaches Mike Kennedy, Marci Callan, Dave Salmon and Mike Fortner all congratulated the student athletes before they took their places behind the starting blocks.

As the cheering continued, the seniors climbed the starting blocks for their symbolic 'last jump' into the Fairport pool. The ceremony was a fitting tribute to the seniors for all their hard work, accomplishments and spirit throughout their Fairport careers.

Fairport began the afternoon with first, third and fourth place finishes for the 200 medley relays of Devina Tyagi, Jenna Wood, Lauren Dufault and Morgan Reisch; Brenna O'Neill, Andrea Hageman, Esther Shin and Meghan Ingerick; and Tiffany Chiang, Kelly O'Keefe, Carlyn Robby and Susan Yang.

The 200 free had Katelin Webster finishing in first place with a time of 2:05.62 and teammates, Staci Woytash and Nicole Stuver close behind.

Gardner, Ostrom, and O'Keefe all swam the 200 IM. The girls finished in second, third and fourth place, respectively. McGraw posted a time of 24.54 in the 50 free, while Morgan Reisch (26.77) and Susan Yang (28.49) rounded out the Fairport swimmers.

Fairport divers Jenny Chiang and Jen Juncosa continued to add to the She-Shark point total. Jenny and Jen delivered their dives and stepped out of the Fairport diving well with a combined total of 391.80 points.

McGraw led Fairport in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.47 and new Fairport High School pool record. Esther Shin (1:06.92) and Carlyn Robby (1:12.04) were close behind.

Dufault led Fairport in the 100 free with a first place finish and a time of 53.98 while Gardner (57.04) and Tiffany Chiang (59.68) finished in third and fourth place.

Ostrom led Fairport in the 500 free with a first place finish in the 20-lap race and a time of 5:27.75. Stuver and O'Keefe added points in the 500 free with third and fourth place finishes.

The 200 free relay had three Fairport relays competing. Meghan Ingerick, Brenna O'Neill, Susan Yang and Carlyn Robby (1:52.25); Erin McGraw, Tiffany Chiang, Carrie Ostrom and Morgan Reisch (exhibition); and Andrea Hageman, Katelin Webster, Jenna Wood, and Emily Gardner (exhibition).

Dufault led Fairport in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.41. Also swimming for Fairport in the 100 back were Devina Tyagi and Esther Shin (both exhibition). Junior Stephanie Gross claimed first place for Fairport in the 100 breast in 1:15.23. Also swimming were April Miller and Jenna Wood (both exhibition).

Fairport ended the last event of the afternoon, the 400 freestyle relay with the relays of Carlyn Robby, Tiffany Chiang, Lauren DuFault and Erin McGraw; Susan Yang, Kelly O'Keefe, Devina Tyagi and Morgan Reisch; and Andrea Hageman, Staci Woytash, Stephanie Gross and April Miller all swimming exhibition.

Final score: Fairport 110, Brockport 74.

 

Fairport's last home meet was against Brockport. In the 200 medley relay, Prasad, Amann, Symonds and Gina God took second, Fairport also took fourth.

Swieringa was second in the 200 free with Keenan in third and Whitney in fifth. In the 200 IM Symonds was third, Mula was fourth and Haun was sixth. In the 50 free; Fairport placed 2,3,4, with God, Root, Barker.

Stumbo took second in the diving. In the 100 fly, again Fairport scored deep with Symonds in second, Root in fourth, and Nemeth in fifth. In a tight 100 free, Mula took second, God took third, and Rachael Misch was sixth.

Swieringa was second in the 500 free with Field in fourth and Whitney in fifth. With the meet heading towards the end, the score after the 500 free was Brockport 69, Fairport 51.

Helping to bring more points in for Fairport, the 200 free relay teams did just that. Amann, Barker, Nemeth and Mula came in first, with Root, Haun, Swieringa, and God in second. Keenan, Kahn, Pearsall and Bonaccorso were fourth.

The 100 back began to bridge the gap, Prasad, Keenan, and Huff came in 2, 3, 5. After this event the score Brockport 79 Fairport 71. The second to last event of the meet, the 100 breast, was critical for Fairport. Coming in first, Amann, Stephanie Kahn in third and Nemeth in fourth, allowing Fairport now to have a two-point difference.

The last relay, the 400 free, was going to be close. Fairport needed to swim first and third to win the meet. Giving it their all, Root, Mula, Swieringa and Symonds came in second, with Misch, Huff, Prasad Keenan in third. Hogg, Pearsall, Borobeychik, and George came in fifth.

The final score was Brockport 92, Fairport 88.
