The Fairport girl's varsity swim and dive team (She-Sharks) added to its undefeated streak with another victory last week against Penfield.

On Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 17, at Penfield High School, the meet began with the 200 medley relay. Fairport relays of Meghan Ingerick, Jenna Wood, Stephanie Gross and Devina Tyagi; Brenna O'Neill, Andrea Hageman, Erin McGraw and Katelin Webster; and Kaitlin Holden, April Miller, Carlyn Robby and Kelly O'Keefe came in first, second and fifth, respectively.

In the second event, the 200 free, juniors Emily Gardner and Carrie Ostrom came in first and third and were followed closely behind by senior Morgan Reisch in fourth. The 200 individual medley had Fairport She-Sharks' Lauren Dufault, Jenna Wood and Stephanie Gross finishing in first, second and fourth places.

Fairport swimmers Devina Tyagi (25.42), Katelin Webster and Esther Shin swept the Penfield Patriots with first, second and third place finishes in the 50 free.

Fairport's Jenny Chiang and Jen Juncosa, were next in the diving event. Jenny and Jen combined for a total point score of 374.15 points and a series of well-executed dives.

The second half of the meet began with the 100 butterfly. Fairport senior Erin McGraw posted a first place finish (57.92) and a new pool record at the Patriot pool. Teammates Stephanie Gross and Staci Woytash finished the heat in second and third places.

Fairport swept the 100 free with Devina Tyagi (56.90), Katelin Webster and Morgan Reisch. In the longest event of the afternoon, the 500 free, Emily Gardner posted a first place finish with a time of 5:19.60 and teammates Jenna Wood and Kelly O'Keefe rounded out the heat with second and sixth place finishes.

Fairport continued to show its strength in the 200 freestyle relay. Relays of Jenna Wood, Morgan Reisch, Katelin Webster and Lauren Dufault; Erin McGraw, Andrea Hageman, Tiffany Chiang and Emily Gardner; and Nicole Stuver, Susan Yang, Kelly O'Keefe and Carlyn Robby led Fairport to first, second and fifth place finishes.

In the 100 back, Fairport junior Meghan Ingerick placed second while teammates Staci Woytash and Brenna O'Neill swam exhibition. Having posted 107 points after this event, Fairport swam the next two events exhibition.

In the 100 breast, Carrie Ostrom, Andrea Hageman and Esther Shin Lauren placed second, fourth and sixth.

The Fairport swim and dive team wrapped up the last event of the afternoon, the 400 free relay, with exhibition relays of April Miller, Susan Yang, Kelly O'Keefe and Meghan Ingerick and Tiffany Chiang, Nicole Stuver, Stephanie Gross and Staci Woytash.

Final Score: Fairport 107, Penfield 69.

 

The Fairport girls junior varsity swim team swam against Penfield at Penfield and won with the score of 112-73. The JV again took first in all three relay events. Shruti Prasad, Liz Amann, Stephanie Symonds and Lindsey Haun won the 200 medley relay with a winning time of 2:16. Sarah Field, Chelsey Barker, Nadia Keenan, and Jessica Nemeth took third, and Hannah Huff, Katie Bonaccorso, Meghan George, and Courtney Pearsall took fourth. Winning the 200 free relay, with the time of 2:01, was Michelle Mula, Jessica Nemeth, Maia Root, and Jamie Swieringa. Liz Amann, Chelsey Barker, Courtney Pearsall, and Ashley Whitney swam in third, with Katie Bonaccorso, Dana Hogg, Masha Vorobeychik, and Meghan George in fifth.

The final relay of the meet the 400 free; Mula, Root, Swieringa and Symonds had the winning time of 4:30, with Keenan, Huff, Prasad and Haun in third.

In the individual events theJV team continued swimming well. Symonds was second in the 200 free, followed by Whitney, and Keenan. In the challenging 200 IM Root came in first in 2:40. Nemeth took third with Amann taking fourth. For the 50 free, Swieringa swam in first in 28.8, Mula and Haun claimed third and fifth. Marie Stumbo, Fairport's JV diver, was up against three Penfield divers and won the diving with the score of 66.95. In the 100 fly, Root was second and Barker was fourth. Mula won the 100 free followed by Haun in third and Prasad in fourth. The long 20-lap 500 free, Swieringa came in first in 6:23, Keenan was third and Whitney was fifth.

Fairport took 1, 2, 3 in the 100 back, winning it in the time of 1:16 was Prasad, Field in 2, and Huff in third. In the 100 breast; Amann won in 1:21, with Nemeth in fourth and Barker in sixth.
