The theme leading up to the biggest meet of the season for the undefeated Fairport varsity girls swim and dive team was "Pulverize Pittsford." And that they did.

The result - Pittsford had to forfeit the diving competition. Fairport was credited with 10 points and Pittsford with zero.

Unfortunately, Fairport's Jenny Chiang and Jennifer Juncosa were unable to dive, but they continued to support their colleagues with cheers of encouragement.

September 28, 2006 - Lauren Dufault and Erin McGraw each won two events as Fairport defeated host Pittsford for the first time in four years, 92-88, Thursday in Monroe County swimming.

"It's very satisfying," said Fairport coach Mike Kennedy. "I'm very happy for our student-athletes. They're great kids and a win like this will certainly stick in their minds."

"The rules are there for the integrity of the sport and the safety of the athletes and it wasn't safe for the athletes," Kennedy said. "You're talking about two of the top teams in the state going back and forth. We're very respective of the program they have there."

Dufault won the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.70) and 100 butterfly (1:00.27) and McGraw placed first in the 50 (24:27) and 100 freestyles (52:62) for Fairport (5-0).

"I think we took it well, the problem is that I had some of my seniors that have never lost to Fairport," said Pittsford coach Marty Keating. "So, there were some tears, but they got over it and we'll get over it.
