The Red Raiders were on the road again on Jan. 19, as they visited Greece to
duel with a combined team from Olympia and Arcadia.
Sophomores Jim Beaudry and Dylan Scheemaker led Fairport over the
undermanned squad from Greece to a 86-51 victory.
The highlights included a second place finish by the 200 medley relay team
of Dietrich Pate, Aram Salehi, Scheemaker and Jon Steffen. Beaudry swam to
his first win finishing the 200 free in 1:55.97. In the next event the 200
IM, Scheemaker touched first in a time of 2:18.53. George Wasickanin
followed with a second place finish in the 50 free with Salehi also
recording second place in the 100 butterfly.
In the 100 free, Peter Koenig touched the wall in second place. Fairport
swept the 500 free with Scheemaker taking first ahead of Salehi and Nate
Jones. In the 200 free relay, Jones was right back in the pool with
teammates Steffen, Kyle Mihaljevic and Jon Jacobs to earn a second place
finish.
The Raiders finished the meet with first place swims by Beaudry (1:00.14 -
100 back) and Kyle Kauffman (1:16.55 - 100 breast).
