On Tuesday, Jan. 17, Fairport traveled to Gates to face the Spartans. Gates Chili swam to victory in the first three events, but the Raiders were able to earn valuable points taking with second and third place finishes.

In the 200 medley relay, the Spartans touched first in 1:50.25 with the relay team of Jim Beaudry, Jake Fisher, Connor Harrington and Aram Salehi a close second. In the 200 free, the Spartan's Rob Smith swam 1:53 finishing just ahead of Dylan Scheemaker for Fairport. Kevin Quantro notched his second of four first place finishes, swimming the 200 individual medley in 2:13.90. Beaudry and Kyle Kauffman took second and third for Fairport. The Raiders recorded their first winning time when sophomore Peter Koenig covered the 50 free in 24:39, tying the score at 17-17.

Fairport's diving duo of Eric Hallimen and Pat Dineen finished first and second with Dineen edging out his teammate as they put the Raiders into the lead for good. Their effort was followed by Chris Razavi and Fisher who took second and third in the 100 butterfly before the Raiders swam to three straight victories to secure the win.

In the 100 free, Beaudry took first in 52:39. Teammate Salehi covered the 500 free in 5:10.57 for another first place finish. The 200 free relay team of Razavi, Scheemaker, Koenig and George Wasickanin was victorious with a winning time of 1:41.14. The Raiders closed out the scoring with Harrington and Fisher taking second and third in the 100 back followed by a first place swim by Koenig in the 100 breast. The final score was 57-44.
