Varsity Swimming Scores High at Sectionals

On November 4th, 10th, and 12th, the FHS swimming team went to Merton Williams to swim and dive at the sectional competition.

The first event was the 200-yard medley relay. Fairport was awarded fourth with a time of 1:55.61. The 200-yard medley relay was swam by Heather Moore, Andrea Hageman, Emily Gardner, and Morgan Reisch. The 200-yard freestyle was won
by Eric McGraw, who placed first with a time of 1:51.57. Lauren Dufault took home first place in the 200 yard individual medley at 2:09.15. Gardner came in second with a time of 2:13.51. Carrie Ostrum placed fourth at 2:16.20. Stephanie came in at
2:24.58 placing tenth. In the 50 yard freestyle, Devina Tyagi placed second with a fast time of 24.98. Reisch came in at eighth with a time of 25.98.

Fairport divers did an outstanding job during the one-meter diving event. Freshman
Jenny Chiang placed first with a high 439.10. Becky Bersani placed second with a score of 422.40 Gretchen Schroeder and Becca Kraft placed third and sixth with scored of 400.20 and 298.30. The 100 butterfly was won by McGraw at 56.97. Dufault swam a 53.80 in the 100 yard freestyle giving her second place. The 200 yard free relay was won Fairport. Tyagi, DuFault, McGraw, and Wood placed first
with a fast time of 1:37.60. Tyagi placed third during the 100 yard backstroke at 1:01.12.Wood won the 100-yard breaststroke for Fairport, with a time of 1:07.77. Hageman placed sixth at 1:11.03. Shin placed twelfth at 1:15.35. The last event was the 400 yard freestyle relay. McGraw, DuFault, Wood, and Tyagi took first with a fast time of 3:34.25.

Fairport performed well at sectionals and had an amazing end to their season.
