Fairport Divers Score Well at Sectionals

    By John Kaemmerlen

February 13, 2005 - The Section V Class A Diving Championships were held at Honeoye Falls this past weekend.  Many of the Fairport High School swimmers  traveled there to cheer on their diving teammates. Fairport's divers, junior Eric Hallimen and sophomore Pat Dineen were required to perform 11 different dives in the 3 round competition. Both Red Raiders did very well, Hallimen finishing 2nd with a score of 296.95 points, and Dineen placing 6th with 263.45 points. This helped get the team off to a great start going into the swimming portion of Sectionals which starts February 18th.

After the meet, Fairport diving coach Dave Salmon said "Eric and Pat dove very well today. Last year they finished 9th and 11th at this meet, so this year's results show tremendous improvement.  Both worked hard this year and it paid off with consistency on their dives, even though the dives they performed this year were more difficult than last year."

In Fairport's 11 dual meets this year, Dineen and Hallimen traded victories in 9 of them, and neither finished lower than 3rd in any of the meets. Their consistency was especially crucial in Fairport's close wins over Penfield and Irondequoit.
