Fairport Swimmers and Divers Finish with a Win |

Team strength evident as eight Red Raiders win events By John Kaemmerlen February 2, 2005 - The Fairport High School swimming and diving team closed out the 2004-05 season hosting the Greece Lightning. Jake Fisher, Jeff Wood, Aram Salehi, and Tim Jacobs won the opening event, the 200 yard medley relay, while Jerry Woytash, Jeff Kaemmerlen, Chris Razavi, and Hans Feng finished 2nd. George Wasickanin claimed victory in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:04.32, with Nate Morales in 2:06.21 and Dylan Scheemaker in 2:09.60 making it a 1-2-3 Red Raider sweep. Jacobs edged out the Greece swimmer to win the 200 yard individual medley in 2:19.00, ahead of Peter Koenig in 3rd in 2:20.15 and Jon Steffan 4th in 2:34.00.
Salehi was 1st to touch the wall in the sprint event, the 50 freestyle, in 24.16 seconds. Woytash was 2nd in 25.89 and Connor Harrington was 5th in 26.55. Eric Hallimen placed first in the diving with 163.25 points. In the 100 yard butterfly, Razavi earned the win with a 1:04.45 swim. The 100 freestyle was another Red Raider sweep led by Scheemaker in 56.70 seconds, then Koenig in 57.06 and Morales in 58.69. Next, Steffan earned his first varsity win in the 500 yard freestyle.
Jacobs, Morales, Wood, and Morales placed first in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Feng and Harrington went 1-2 in the 100 yard backstroke, in 1:05.62 and 1:11.19, respectively. Salehi took the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.36. Wasickanin, Jacobs, Scheemaker, and Razavi finished the meet with a win in the 400 yard free relay.
The final score was Fairport 86, Greece 57. The Red Raiders closed out another excellent season with a 10-1 record in dual meets. Their next competitions are the diving sectionals held on February 12, and swimming sectional preliminaries on February 18.
