Fairport Swimmers and Divers Earn Two More Wins

   

Jacobs, Woytash, Fisher lead Red Raiders

January 19, 2005 - The Fairport High School swimming and diving team traveled to Rush Henrietta for a meet against the Royal Comets. In the contest's first event, the 200 yard medley relay, Jeff Kaemmerlen, Tim Jacobs, Jeff Wood, and Jake Fisher won in 1:51.51, and George Wasickanin, Peter Koenig, Aram Salehi, and Chris Razavi placed 3rd. Dylan Scheemaker finished 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:08.60, Connor Harrington was 3rd in 2:10.63, and Nate Morales was 4th in 2:12.44.

The Fairport trio of Jerry Woytash, Jacobs, and Jim Beaudry swept the top 3 spots in the 200 yard individual medley. Their times were 2:17.83, 2:23.71, and 2:24.88 respectively. Wood swam to an easy win in the 50 free in a very fast 22.25 seconds, ahead of Salehi in 2nd in 24.59 and Razavi in 27.02. All three were best times this year.

In the diving portion of the competition, Eric Hallimen placed 2nd and Pat Dineen was 3rd. The 100 yard butterfly produced the 2nd Fairport sweep by Fisher, Salehi, and Beaudry. Then Razavi and Morales swam neck and neck in the 100 free and finished 2-3 in 59.63 and 59.66 seconds respectively. The third Red Raider sweep was the 500 freestyle where each competitor swam a best time. Harrington won in 5:43.82, Wasickanin was 2nd in 5:55.00, and Scheemaker placed 3rd in 5:59.14.

The Fairport foursome of Beaudry, Salehi, Morales, and Razavi won the 200 free relay in 1:43.26. Woytash swam the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.52, and Wasickanin finished in 1:12.26. Jacobs finished ahead of the field in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:14.89, and Koenig was 3rd in 1:18.79. The Red Raiders finished the meet with a win in the 400 free relay, the quartet of Harrington, Scheemaker, Woytash, and Wasickanin touching the wall first. The final score was Fairport 101, Rush Henrietta 75.

 

Fairport also traveled to Webster's fine facility for a meet against one of their east side rivals. Beaudry, Kaemmerlen, Wood, and Morales opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay ahead of Salehi, Scheemaker, Harrington, and Wasickanin in 3rd. Hans Feng placed 2nd in a tightly contested 200 free in 1:54.64, ahead of Fisher in 3rd in 1:57.96, and Razavi 5th in 2:09.54. Woytash, Scheemaker, and Koenig all swam best times to finish 1-3-5 in a close 200 IM. Their times were 2:17.08, 2:22.99, and 2:23.37, respectively.

Wood earned a 22.23 second win in the 50 free, the #2 time in NY State this year. Jacobs placed 3rd and Wasickanin was 4th. Hallimen with 156.90 points and Dineen with 137.85 finished 2-3 in the diving. Kaemmerlen won the 100 fly in 59.07 seconds, ahead of Razavi in 3rd and Woytash 5th. In the 100 free Jacobs earned the top spot in 55.29 seconds. Harrington was 4th in 58.78 and Morales finished in 59.48 in a close race.
