Red Raider Swimmers Swamp Greece Thunder

January 5, 2005 - The Fairport High School swimming and diving team traveled to Greece for their fifth meet this season. The Red Raiders opened the competition with a 1-2 sweep in the 200 yard medley relay. Jerry Woytash, Jake Fisher, Hans Feng, and Dylan Scheemaker won the kickoff event and Peter Koenig, Chris Razavi, Connor Harrington, and Tim Jacobs placed second. In the 200 yard freestyle, Jeff Kaemmerlen claimed victory in 1:50.47, followed by Jim Beaudry in 3rd in 1:58.30 and Aram Salehi 4th in 1:59.22. Fisher won the 200 yard individual medley in 2:08.23. Feng was 2nd in a best time 2:09.79, and Razavi placed 5th in 2:16.47.

Scheemaker, Jacobs, and Morales put more Fairport points on the board in the 50 freestyle with a 3-4-5 finish. Pat Dineen won the diving event with 150.15 points, followed by teammate Eric Hallimen in 2nd. In the 100 yard butterfly, Koenig finished 3rd in a best time 1:04.58, ahead of Harrington in 4th in 1:08.30 and Jacobs in 5th in 1:09.06.

Kaemmerlen won his second event of the session in the 100 freestyle. Salehi finished 4th and Morales 6th. Woytash swam the 500 yard freestyle in a best time 5:12.34, Fisher was 2nd in 5:18.34, also a best time, and Beaudry was 3rd in 5:23.26. The 200 freestyle relay had Feng, Salehi, Beaudry, and Kaemmerlen placing 2nd and Scheemaker, Morales, and the diving duo of Dineen and Hallimen forming a foursome to claim 4th place.

Koenig in 1:03.84, Woytash in 1:04.07, and Feng in 1:04.95 swept the top 3 spots in the 100 yard backstroke in a very close contest. Razavi was the #1 finisher in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:10.41, with Harrington in 2nd in 1:17.56 and Scheemaker 4th in 1:20.56. The Red Raider quartet of Fisher, Woytash, Jacobs, and Morales closed out the meet with a 2nd place result in the 400 freestyle relay. Fairport improved its record to 5-0 with this 100-78 victory.
