By John Kaemmerlen
December 10, 2004 - The Fairport High School varsity swimming and
diving team opened its 2004-05 season with an away meet at Brighton High
School. The team is coached by Mike Kennedy, Mike Fortner, Dave Salmon, and
Steve Hawkins-Rusch. Co-captains this year are seniors Tim Jacobs, Jeff
Wood, and Jeff Kaemmerlen. The team has a nice balance of experience and
newcomers with 4 seniors, 5 juniors, 3 sophomores, and 4 freshmen.
Coach Kennedy opened with two evenly matched Fairport foursomes for the 200
yard medley relay. Chris Razavi, Jake Fisher, Hans Feng, and Aram Salehi
edged Jerry Woytash, Jacobs, Wood, and George Wasickanin. Kaemmerlen won the
200 yard freestyle in 1:50.77, followed by Jim Beaudry in 3rd and Connor
Harrington 5th. Feng's 2:12.42 swim won the 200 yard individual medley.

freestyle in 48.43 seconds. Wasickanin was 4th and Scheemaker 5th.

what the team knew would be a tough meet against a very strong Irondequoit
team. The Red Raiders started fast with a 1-3 finish in the opening medley
relay. Wood, Fisher, Feng, and Salehi took the win in a solid 1:43.13, and
Woytash, Razavi, Harrington, and Wasickanin added key points with their
1:55.33 swim. Wood came right back in the next event to smash the pool
record by 5 seconds with a 1:44.90 victory in the 200 freestyle. Jacobs was
