Fairport 104, Penfield 78

Fairport traveled to Penfield for their second meet of the week. Leading
off the afternoon in the 200 medley relay were Devina Tyagi, Andrea Hageman
and co-captains Clare Ostrom and Marlys Fuqua with a first place finish of
1:57.75. The relays of Emily Gardner, Lindsey Burris, Stephanie Yorio and
Morgan Reisch and Kendra Hogg, Stephanie Gross, Susan Yang and Tiffany
Chiang finished third and fifth.
In the 200 free, Erin McGraw completed the eight-lap race with a pool-record
time of 1:55.12. Teammates Lauren Dufault and Staci Woytash finished in
second and fourth place. In the 200 individual medley, Marlys Fuqua finished
first with a time of 2:16.62. Closely behind were Gardner and Burris in
third and fifth place. Freshman Devina Tyagi captured first place in the 50
free with a time of 26.46. Fellow She Sharks Reisch and Moore captured
second and fourth place.
As the action shifted to the diving well, She Shark diver Becky Bersani
captured first place against the host Patriots with a winning point total of
201.10. Teammates Gretchen Schroeder finished in a close second and Becca
Kraft fourth place.
The racing resumed with Marlys Fuqua winning her second race of the
afternoon, the 100 fly, in a time of 1:01.64. Gross and Yang sped to strong
finishes in second and fourth place. Fairport now led Penfield by a score of
68-26.
The action turned to the 100 free with Fairport's Kendra Hogg speeding to a
first place finish with a time of 57.97. Carrie Ostrom and Suzanne Flynn
were close behind in second and fifth place, respectively. Sarah
Lakehal-Ayat finished second in the 500 free with a best time of 5:46.58.
Teammates Dufault and Claire Ostrom swam strong exhibition races in the 500
free.
The She Shark relay team of Chiang, Hogg, Carrie Ostrom and Flynn finished
the 200 free relay with a first place winning time of 1:51.78. The relays of
McGraw, Fuqua, Moore and Claire Ostrom and Reisch, Dufault, Hageman and
Tyagi swam exhibition.
Freshman Staci Woytash led Fairport to victory in the 100 back with a
winning time of 1:08.10. Teammates Callan came in second and Gardner swam
exhibition. In the 100 breast, Fairport's Chiang captured third place with a
time of 1:20.30 and teammates Burris and Flynn swam exhibition.
With a strong lead, the Fairport 400 free relay teams of Tyagi, Dufault,
Claire Ostrom and McGraw, Moore, Carrie Ostrom, Reisch and Gardner and
Hageman, Gross, Lakehal-Ayat and Yang all swam exhibition. The final score
read Fairport She Sharks 104, the Penfield Patriots 78. Fairport's record is
now 9-1.
