Fairport 94, Brighton 74

Competing against Brighton for the first time many years Fairport
started out strongly with Clare Ostrom, Erin McGraw, Kendra Hogg and Jenn
Kaminska finishing in a very close second with 2:05.93 while Heather Moore,
Lindsey Burris, Emily Gardner and Stephanie Gross placed third (2:06.59) and
Morgan Reisch, Tiffany Chiang, Carrie Ostrom and Sarah Lakehal-Ayat swam to
fifth in 2:13.39. The 200 Free saw steady swims by Marlys Fuqua in 1:58.24
(first), Devina Tyagi in 2:12.16 (third) and Carly Callan in 2:20.95
(fifth).
McGraw led the way in the 200 IM touching first with 2:13.16 followed in
fourth by Gross in 2:33.51 and in sixth by Chiang with 2:43.61. Lauren
Dufault touched the wall first (26.04) in the 50 Free followed by Stephanie
Yorio (28.97) and Kaminska (30.05).
Becky Bersani, Gretchen Schroeder and Becca Kraft once again proved that
they are a diving team to be watched. These talented girls again swept three
of the top four places against a strong Brighton team.
Dufault was a double winner after clinching the 100 fly in 1:03.21 while
Gardner took third (1:10.06) and Burris claimed fifth (1:16.37). Reisch
stormed the pool, winning the 100 free in 59.39 followed by Carrie Ostrom
(1:02.43) and Kaminska (1:04.75). Fuqua was Fairport's second double winner
of the day taking first in the 500 free (5:19.64) with Hogg placing third
(5:41.28) and Woytash taking fourth (5:46.54).
The 200 free relay saw the teams of Moore, Reisch, Clare Ostrom and Dufault
take first (1:49.06), Woytash, Callan, Yorio and Hogg place third (1:54.632)
and Chiang, Burris, Lakehal-Ayat and Kaminska take fifth (2:00.01).
McGraw swam a very fast 100 Back touching in 1:01.62 followed by Tyagi in
second (1:08.36) and Gross in fourth (1:14.74). The 100 breast saw strong
swims by sisters Clare Ostrom, second in 1:15.44 and Carrie Ostrom third in
1:19.00 while Gardner swam to fifth in 1:21.54. Finishing up the meet, all
of Fairport's 400 free relays swam for exhibition. The teams of Dufault,
Fuqua, McGraw and Clare Ostrom finished in 3:50.47; Moore, Hogg, Yorio and
Tyagi in 4:04.28 and Lakehal-Ayat, Woytash, Carrie Ostrom and Callan in
4:23.06.
