Webster, NY - The Fairport swimming and diving team placed third at the
Class A sectional meet held last Saturday at the Webster Aquatic Center.
Pittsford won the team competition with 484 points. Penfield finished second
with 362 points and Fairport was third with 356 points.
In the relay events, the Red Raiders won both the 200 medley relay and the
200 free relay.
The team of Jeff Wood, Jon Roberts, Matt McGraw and Cyrus Salehi won the
medley relay in 1:36.12.
The same four combined talents in the 200 free relay to win in 1:26.48.
Fairport's best event was the 100-yard backstroke where Wood (52.33) placed
first, McGraw (55.17) was second and Jeff Kaemmerlen (55.49) was third. Pete
Letteney was 12th in 1:00.11.
McGraw won the 100 free in 48.87 with C. Salehi placing ninth in 50.05.
Roberts won the 100 breast stroke in 56.94. Hans Feng was eighth, 1:05.11;
Nick Mihaljevic, 13th, 1:07.13; and Chris Razavi, 14th, 1:08.05.
Placing second for the Raiders was Roberts in the 100 butterfly in 50.51.
Feng placed eighth in 57.26 and Adam Craghead was 12th in 58.87.
Wood also placed second in the 200 free in 1:43.77. Kaemmerlen was fifth in
1:49.05 and Aram Salehi was 14th in 1:55.89.
C. Salehi placed third in the 50 free in 22.26. Craghead was 16th in 24.20.
The Fairport 400 fee relay team of Kaemmerlen, A. Salehi, Feng and Letteney
placed sixth in 3:31.50.
Other Fairport finishers included Razavi and Tim Jacobs 14th and 15th,
respectively, in the 200 individual medley and Jerry Woytash, ninth; A.
Salehi, 10th, Jacobs, 13th and Mihaljevic, 16th, in the 500 freestyle.
