Fairport 101, Greece Arcadia-Olympia 59

The Fairport girls returned to the FHS pool following their win over Hilton to
face the Greece Lightning squad. The results were similar with Fairport
sweeping the top spots in most of the events and posting some very
respectable times for just the second meet of the year.
The 200 medley relay saw Clare Ostrom, Kim Kenny, Marlys Fuqua, and Emily
Vaughan get the She Sharks off to a quick start with a win in the time of
2:12.23. Erin McGraw then took the win in the 200 free with an outstanding
time of 1:59.75. Heather Moore and Suzanne Flynn also finished strong in the
200 free taking the second and third spots.
The 200 IM saw Erin Legg taking the top spot with a time of 2:16.68 with
Lindsey Burris and Sarah Lakehal-Ayat completing the sweep with second and
third place finishes. Melanie Roberts, Marlys Fuqua, and Ostrom then
finished 1-2-3 in the 50 free. Becky Bersani, Gretchen Schroeder, and Lauren
Fuqua then put a fine demonstration of diving finishing first, second, and
third.
The Fairport girls kept their momentum going in the 100 fly with a 1-2-3
performance by Roberts, McGraw, and Yorio. Hogg, Kenny, and Kroll then
outscored Greece in the 100 free with first, third, and fifth place
finishes. Moore, Burris, and Callan finished first, second, and fourth in
the 500 free and were followed by a 1-2-3 Fairport finish in the 200 free
relay. Yorio, Roberts, Lakehal-Ayat, and McGraw were first followed by
Marlys Fuqua, Flynn, Vaughan, and Ostrom. Diving team members Schroeder,
Meryl Sheible, Bersani, and Lauren Fuqua impressed the home crowd with their
versatility finishing third the swimming event.
Hogg, Kenny, and Kroll finished the 100 back in second, third, and fourth
place while Legg, Fuqua, and Callan took first, second, and fifth in the 100
breast.
In the final event of the meet the team of Flynn, Yorio, McGraw, and Hogg
finished first followed by Burris, Vaughan, Lakehal-Ayat, and Moore in
second giving Fairport a 2-0 record after the first week of competition.
