Red Raider Swimmers Improve to 4-0 |

January 02, 2003 Fairport, NY - Fairport hosted Brighton for its fourth swim meet of the season and jumped out to a quick lead during the first event of the afternoon, the 200 medley relay. The team of Jim Wood, Vijay Parthasarathy, Andy Amyot, and Chris Hamlin finished first and was followed closely by the second place team of Jeff Kaemmerlen, Matt McGraw, Jon Roberts, and Pete Letteney. Jeff Melvin, Tim Jacobs, and Cuyler O'Brien then finished second, third, and sixth, respectively, in the 200 freestyle to give Fairport a 19-11 lead after just two events. Fairport clearly demonstrated why it is one of the top teams in New York state by sweeping the top three spots in the next two events and opening up a dominating 45-17 lead. Cyrus Salehi led the Fairport sweep in the 200 individual medley finishing in first place with a time of 2:17.83. Hans Feng and Jerry Woytash completed the Fairport sweep with strong second and third place finishes. In the 50 free, Jeff Wood finished first with an impressive time of 23.01. McGraw finished second and was followed by Kurt Schwarz who finished third for the Red Raiders. Ryan McLaughlin was the lone diver for Fairport, but was able to capture first place with 199.85 points. Fairport once again showed its depth with another 1-2-3 finish in the 100 butterfly. Amyot swam a strong race to finish first with a time of 56.57 and was followed by Adam Craghead and O'Brien in second and third to give Fairport an insurmountable lead of 60-33. Salehi then led the way with a victory in the 100 free finishing first with a solid time of 52.70. Parthasarathy finished in second place and Woytash rounded out Fairport's finishers with a fifth place finish. Kaemmerlen led the field in the 500 free completing the grueling 20 length race in 5:19.21. Melvin finished second and Letteney added a third to complete yet another sweep by the Red Raiders. Fairport then flexed its relay muscles again finishing first and second in the 200 freestyle relay. Salehi, Woytash, Parthasarathy, and Roberts finished in first with a time of 1:37.86 and were followed closely by the team of Craghead, Jim Wood, Letteney, and Kaemmerlen. The 100 back saw Amyot win with a time of 1:00.99 followed by Schwarz and Jacobs with second and third place finishes. Fairport then swept the top three spots in the breast stroke with Jeff Wood capturing the win in 1:08.77. McGraw and Feng were close behind finishing in the second and third spots. In the final event of the day Fairport showcased the depth of its freestyle talents by finishing 1-2 in the 400 free relay. The team of Woytash, Letteney, Salehi, and Feng edged out Kaemmerlen, Melvin, O'Brien, and Jacobs and secured the win for Fairport. The final score was 100-83, extending Fairport's record to 4-0.
