October 3, 2002 Henrietta, NY - At an away meet on Oct. 3 at Rush-Henrietta High School, the Fairport High School girls varsity swim team dominated the R-H Royal Comets with a 106-76 victory. Opening the meet with the 200-medley relay were Heather Moore, Kellie Kong, Marlys Fuqua, and Erin Legg placing first. Finishing third and fifth, respectively, were the teams of Carly Callan, Lindsey Burris, Stephanie Chan, Jen Alderman and Clare Ostrom, Kendra Hogg, Carrie Kroll and Erin Eisenhardt. The She-Sharks swept the second event, the 200 free, with a 1-2-3 finish by Nicole DiBello, Suzanne Flynn, and Carly Nichols. The 200 individual medley brought another sweep, as well as best times, by Fuqua, Chan, and Moore. The 50 free saw Legg score first, Kong in second and Kim Kenney in fifth. The diving portion of the meet increased Fairport's lead to 13 points with divers Becky Bersani, Jessie Webb, and Gretchen Schoeder scoring first, second and third. Following their skillful performance, the meet returned to swimming with the 100 fly. Earning the spots of third, fourth and fifth were Alderman, Kroll, and Burris. Kenney and Emily Vaughan finished third and fifth in the 100 free, with Fuqua swimming exhibition. The endurance race, the 500 free, continued Fairport's lead, with Sarah Lakehal-Ayat finishing second, Hogg in third, and Laura Kolb placing fifth. In an exciting 200 free relay, the team of Fuqua, Legg, Kong and Ostrom finished first. Swimming exhibition were the teams of Alderman, Moore, Nichols and Flynn and Vaughan, Callan, Kroll and Lakehal-Ayat. The meet continued with the 100 back, with fourth and fifth place finishes by Eisenhardt, and Kenney; DiBello swam exhibition. The 100 breast saw another three best times with Burris finishing first, Chan, and Callan swimming exhibition. Fairport wrapped up the meet with a 1-2-3 finish in the 400 free relay. The team of Legg, Kong, Flynn and DiBello scored first, with Ostrom, Nichols, Hogg, and Kroll in second, and scoring in third was Kolb, Lakehal-Ayat, Vaughan, and Eisenhardt. The She-Sharks achieved 22 best times in this meet; the season record is now 4-2.
