September 19, 2002 Fairport, NY - For their second home meet of the season, the Fairport She-Sharks hosted the Greece Athena/Odyssey team on Thursday, Sept, 19. The meet opened with Erin Legg, Nicole DiBello, Marlys Fuqua and Steph Chan placing first in the 200 medley relay. The team of Carly Callan, Karalyn Wendell, Jen Alderman and Heather Moore placed third with Laura Kolb, Kim Kenney, Carrie Kroll and Erin Eisenhardt touching in fifth. An exciting 200 free race was next. Clare Ostrom was just out touched placing second with a time of 2:10.93, followed by Kellie Kong and Lindsey Burris. Fuqua took first place in the 200 IM with Beth Kenney and Sarah Lakehal-Ayat each swimming personal best times. Legg swam a 25.77 to win the 50 free while Chan placed third and Emily Vaughn touched in sixth to end the first half of swimming. The divers continued to show that they are an asset to the team. Their strong showing extended Fairport's lead with Becky Bersani taking first, Meryl Scheible second and Becca Kraft fourth. Returning to swimming, DiBello, Ostrom and Eisenhardt went 1-3-5 in the 100 fly. The 100 free found Fairport placing Moore, Alderman and Callan in 2-3-5. The 500 free was another exciting race with Chan just being touched out for a personal best second place time. Also swimming best personal times were Carly Nichols and Kendra Hogg. The She-Sharks 200 free relay team of Fuqua, Moore, Kong and Chan took first while Ostrom, K. Kenney, Callan and B. Kenney were second and Kroll, Lakehal-Ayat, Vaughn and Kolb took fifth. Legg recorded her second victory of the meet winning the 100 back in 103.77. Alderman and Burris swam best times placing third and fourth. DiBello followed with her second individual win in the 100 breast followed by Wendell and Eisenhardt. The 400 free relay team of Kong, Moore, Nichols and Alderman took second with Hogg, B. Kenney, Vaughn and Kolb taking in third. Ostrom. Fuqua, Legg and DiBello swam exhibition. The final score Fairport 109, Greece 75. The team record is now 2-1.
