Fairport swamps Spencerport

Fairport, NY - Fairport swam at home against Spencerport. The Red Raiders opened again with a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 medley relay. Pete Kaemmerlen, Vijay Parthasarathy, Andy Amyot, and Tim Stockton won in 1:45.03, Jeff Kaemmerlen, Doug Potvin, Keith Schanck, and Chris Hamlin were second in 1:50.47, and Tyler Obenauf, Carl Adair, Joe Lakin, and Adam Craghead were third in 1:59.70.

The next race, the 200 free, was one of the best races of the season so far. Jeff Wood and Jon Roberts overcame an early lead by the Spencerport swimmer to go 1-2 in the very fast times of 1:46.26 and 1:47.81, respectively. Cyrus Salehi was fourth in 1:59.75. The 200 individual medley was swept by the Red Raiders with P. Kaemmerlen in 2:09.48, J. Kaemmerlen in 2:14.94, and Obenauf in 2:21.26. Jim Wood won the 50 free in 23.78 seconds. Parthasarathy was second in 24.63, and Adair fourth in 26.42.

Pete Crane and Ryan McLaughlin continued their season-long streak of top two finishes with strong scores of 275.80 and 208.00 points. In the 100 fly, Roberts won in a very fast 53.41. Schanck was second in 59.51 and Ian Phillips fourth in 1:04.28. Stockton finished second in the 100 free in 51.82 seconds, Salehi third in 53.58 and Craghead fourth in 55.08. P. Kaemmerlen won the 500 free in 5:17.74, with Nick Reisch second in 5:41.26 and Lakin third in 6:03.54.

In the 200 free relay, the foursome of Stockton, Salehi, Roberts, and Hamlin were the winners in 1:33.72, with Jeff Wood, McGraw, Schanck, and Potvin second in 1:34.84 and Melvin, Adair, Parthasarathy, and Reisch fourth in 1:41.98.

Backstroke has been a strong event for Fairport all year and was again in this meet as Jim Wood in 56.42, Schwarz in 1:01.08, and J. Kaemmerlen in 1:01.68 went 1-2-3. Amyot won the 100 breast in 1:06.01, with McGraw second in 1:09.18 and Phillips fifth in 1:18.42.

Fairport ended the meet showing more of its depth in the 400 free relay by going 1-2-3 again. Jeff Wood, Schwarz, Reisch, and McGraw won in 3:35.72, Melvin, Obenauf, Wood, and Amyot were a close second in 3:36.90, and Lakin, Potvin, Salehi, and Craghead were third in 3:46.11.

Fairport's next meet is Jan. 29 at Webster.
