She-Sharks Open Season Against R-H

     

September 19, 2001 - The Fairport She-Sharks opened the 2001 varsity swim season hosting Rush-Henrietta on Thursday, Sept. 19.

In the 200 medley relay, the team of Erin Legg, Clare Ostrom, Jen Alderman and captain Christy Breen placed second. They were followed by Marlys Fuqua, Karalyn Wendell, Katie Barbato and Jessica Blaha in third and Beth Kenney, Nicole DiBello, Gillian Micoli and Katelyn Byrnes in fourth.

The She-Sharks came back strong placing 1-2-3 in the next two events. Captain Jamie Adams won the 200 free with Becky Potvin and Stephanie Chan following. Then Megan McGraw touched first in the 200 IM with Micoli second and Wendell third.

DiBello led the 50 free sprint taking first with Byrnes posting fourth place points and Kong touching in sixth. Next the meet moved to the diving well where Laurissa Prystaj took first place honors for Fairport.

Returning to swimming, the She-Sharks added more points in the 100 fly as Legg, Chan and Kenney went 1-3-4. Next was the 100 free where Byrnes nailed first followed by Alderman in second and Ostrom in fifth.

Potvin, Wendell and Kong all swam best times in the 500 free with 1-3-4 results. Next, the 200 Free relays of McGraw, Barbato, Breen and Chan took first with Micoli, Kenney, Byrnes and Fuqua touching in second.

Fairport's Blaha took first place in the 100 back with Adams and Alderman swimming exhibition. Next was the 100 breast where Ostrom took second while Legg and DiBello swam exhibition.

The final event of the meet was the 400 free relay. Both Fairport's teams of Fuqua, Breen, Potvin and Kong and Legg, Alderman, Wendell and Kenney swam exhibition.

The final score was Fairport 106, Rush-Henrietta 63.
