Fairport stuns Rush-Henrietta

     

January 16, 2001 - Fairport was home on Jan. 16, taking on Rush-Henrietta and gave another strong effort, winning every event. In the 200 medley relay, Tyler Obenauf, E.J. Amyot, Tim Stockton and Jeff Melvin were first (1:52.04); Vijay Parthasarathy, Brett Carney, Matt McGraw and Keith Schanck second (1:52.99); and Robert Teeter, Johann Bodensteiner, Pete Kaemmerlen and Joe Nauman fourth (1:58.68)

Taking first in the 200 free was Erik Schwarz (1:55.13); fourth, Dan Szweda (2:09.54) and fifth, Jim Keeler (2:20.39). Finishing 1-2-3 in the 200 IM were Kurt Schwarz (2:14.18), Corey Stark (2:26.67) and Teeter (2:34.65). Fairport went 1-2-3 again in the 50 free: Mike Steurer (23.90), Kaemmerlen (24.36) and McGraw (25.14).

In the diving, Ryan McLaughlin and Josh Hancock put up good scores going 1-2 (208.9 and 135.85). After the break and warmup, K. Schanck took first in the 100 fly (1:03.61) with Stark (1:10.94) and Bodensteiner (1:11.02) exhibition.

A. Amyot was first in the 100 free (51.71), Parthasarathy third (55.57) and Nauman fourth (55.97). E.J. Amyot swam a great 500 free winning in 5:01.32; Stockton (5:25.66) and Keeler (6:34.15) swam exhibition. The 200 free relay team of Teeter, McGraw, Steurer and Carney took first in a time of 1:37.44; K. Schwarz, Mike Dank, Bodensteiner and Nauman (1:40.14) and Melvin, Keeler, Parthasarathy and E. Schwarz (1:43.62) swam exhibition.

Kaemmerlen took first in the 100 back (1:00.26), A. Amyot (1:04.59) and Obenauf (1:09.01) exhibition. Szweda was first in the 100 breast in 1:12.86, Schanck (1:16.30) and Dank (1:17.17) exhibition. Fairport would have won the 400 free relay with a best time of 3:42.95 by K. Schwarz, Stark, McGraw and Kaemmerlen, but they were entered as exhibition.
