January 13, 2001 - In a highly competitive atmosphere, the Red Raiders came out on top: Fairport 470, Newburgh 403, Liverpool 374. Going 2-4-6-8 in the 200 medley relay were Matt McGraw, Erik Schwarz, Brett Carney, Andy Amyot (1:44.43); Mike Steurer, Vijay Parthasarathy, Keith Schanck and Pete Kaemmerlen (1:51.62); Corey Stark, Dan Szweda, Tyler Obenauf and Carl Adair (1:57.55); and Joel Nauman, Robert Teeter, Mike Dank and Jim Keeler (2:00.35). In the 200 free, Tim Stockton was fifth (1:55.85), Johann Bodensteiner was seventh (1:56.97), Adam Craghead 10th (2:01.97) and Schanck 11th (2:07.98). Winning the 200 IM was E.J. Amyot (1:58.49), followed by Kurt Schwarz third (2:11.99), Kaemmerlen fourth (2:13.37) and Parthasarathy seventh (2:23.18). In the 50 free, Gavin Stark was second (22.43), A. Amyot fourth (23.04), Steurer eighth (24.27) and Nauman 10th (24.70). In the diving, Pete Crane took first with a solid score of 255.60; Ryan McLaughlin was fifth (178.95) and Josh Hancock was seventh (126.55). Fairport had a tremendous showing in the 100 fly with a 2-3-4-5 finish by A. Amyot (55.94), Carney (56.66), Schanck (1:01.54) and Obenauf (1:04.45). The team had another strong result in the 100 free with a 2-3-5-6 finish by Stark (48.74), Stockton (52.15), E. Schwarz (52.49), and Bodensteiner (52.85). In the distance event, the 500 free, Fairport's top finish was McGraw third (5:08.85) with Kaemmerlen eighth (5:23.84), Craghead 11th (5:37.02) and Szweda 12th (5:48.68). Scoring big in the 200 free relay were E.J. Amyot, Stark, Stockton and A. Amyot first (1:31.80); Bodensteiner, Nauman, Schanck and Craghead fourth (1:39.55); Adair, Dank, Obenauf and Szweda seventh (1:43.24); and Teeter, Keeler, K. Schwarz and Parthasarathy eighth (1:44.53). In the 100 back, McGraw was fourth (59.04), K. Schwarz sixth (1:02.70), Stark seventh (1:02.79) and Steurer eighth (1:02.84). E.J. Amyot became a double winner taking the 100 breast stroke in 1:01.04. Second was E. Schwarz (1:06.50), fourth, Carney (1:07.58), and sixth, Parthasarathy (1:08.58). With the meet victory in hand, Fairport cruised to a 3-5-6-10 finish in the 400 free relay with the teams of Stark, E. Schwarz, Stockton and E.J. Amyot (3:24.57); K. Schwarz, Kaemmerlen, Bodensteiner, McGraw (3:39.78); Craghead, Dank, Szweda and Obenauf (3:50.20); and Keeler, Stark, Teeter and Adair (4:08.41).
