December 21, 2000 - Fairport swimmers won their 18th team victory in the 19-year history of the annual Spencerport Relays. A special meet consisting exclusively of four-man relays, some unique, is always a fun and competitive event. This year was no exception as the Red Raiders came away with a 96-82 victory over five other teams with Churchville-Chili and Livonia tied for second. Leading off in the 200 medley, Corey Stark, Robert Teeter, Tyler Obenauf and Jim Keeler took fourth in 2:01.14. In the 800 free relay, Matt McGraw, Erik Schwarz, Andy Amyot and Adam Craghead took first in 7:51.34. Taking second were Obenauf, Brett Carney, Jeff Melvin and Keith Schanck swimming the 200 butterfly relay in 1:45.89. The 200 breast relay of Johann Bodensteiner, Dan Szweda. A. Amyot and Vijay Parthasarathy were first in 2:07.79. In the diving, Fairport had only one participant, Ryan McLaughlin, who was not awarded points for his effort, but would have won based on his scores. E.J. Amyot, Parthasarathy, Melvin and Gavin Stark would have taken first in the 400 medley relay (3:02.05), but suffered a disqualification. Coming back with a victory was Tim Stockton, Mike Steurer, Peter Kaemmerlen and Bodensteiner in the 400 free relay (3:30.32). Taking another first were McGraw, Kurt Schwarz, Stark and Kaemmerlen with a time of 1:50.93 in the 200 back relay. Setting a meet record with a first-place time of 3:46.91 in the 400 IM relay were Stark, E. Schwarz, Carney and E.J. Amyot. With the meet victory secured, the team of Steurer, Carl Adair, Mike Dank and Joel Nauman cruised to a second place in the 200 free relay (1:41.90).
