Raiders Reach 4-0

     

December 19, 2000 -Fairport was at home against Greece Athena and came away with a 102-78 victory to run its record to 4-0.

Starting with a win in the 200 medley relay was the team of Erik Schwarz, Andy Amyot, Brett Carney and Tim Stockton in a time of 1:46.23. Fourth was Mike Steurer, Matt McGraw, Jeff Melvin and Pete Kaemmerlen (1:54.97) and fifth was Joel Nauman, Robert Teeter, Mike Dank and Jim Keeler (2:02.52).

Winning the 200 freestyle was Gavin Stark in 1:50.30 as Kurt Schwarz took fourth (2:01.65) and Tyler Obenauf fifth (2:06.32). P. Kaemmerlen was first in the 200 IM touching in 2:10.57, followed by M. McGraw third (2:12.38) and Dan Szweda sixth (2:31.67).

In the 50 free, A. Amyot won the fourth consecutive event for Fairport in a time of 23.16; second was M. Steurer (24.49) and fourth was J. Nauman (24.89). Taking another first was Ryan McLaughlin, who won the diving, coming through for the team as Fairport's only entry.

With a sixth straight win for the Red Raiders was G. Stark in the 100 fly (54.57), Keith Schanck second (1:00.44) and M. McGraw fifth (1:02.74). Greece broke the home team's string of event wins in the 100 free, but E. Schwarz scored second place (50.96), Adam Craghead fourth (55.60) and Carl Adair fifth (1:01.19).

Taking another second was T. Stockton in the 500 free (5:24.87), Johann Bodensteiner was fourth (5:31.86) and J. Melvin fifth (5:45.41). Fairport got back on track in the 200 free relay winning with G. Stark, T. Stockton, J. Nauman and B. Carney (1:33.59). Taking second was T. Obenauf, M. Dank, A. Craghead, J. Bodensteiner (1:42.66) and fourth was C. Adair, Vijay Parthasarathy, K. Schwarz and D. Szweda (1:43.69).

The team placed 3-4-5 in the 100 back A. Amyot (1:02.04), Corey Stark (1:05.37) and VJ Parthasarathy (1:09.16). Winning the 100 breast was E. Schwarz in 1:05.69 with P. Kaemmerlen fourth (1:12.05) and Robert Teeter fifth (1:17.35).

Closing out the meet with a 2-3-4 finish were the 400 free relay teams of A. Amyot, J. Bodensteiner, K. Schanck, E. Schwarz (3:32.60); J. Melvin, A. Craghead, T. Obenauf and VJ Parthasarathy (3:51.78); and C. Adair, J. Keeler, C. Stark and D. Szweda (4:08.87).

Remaining undefeated (4-0), Fairport won eight of 12 events with another dominant effort. Their next regular dual meet is Thursday, Jan. 4, at home vs. Brockport.
