December 14, 2000 - On Thursday, Dec. 14, two swimming powers squared off in what is usually the biggest meet of the year for both teams. In a reversal of results from last year, Fairport came out on top with a hard-fought 102-84 victory. The tone was set in the opening event, the 200 medley relay, as the Fairport team of Matt McGraw, E.J. Amyot, Brett Carney and Andy Amyot touched out Pittsford in a time of 1:42.04 to take first. In third was Pete Kaemmerlen, Vijay Parthasarathy, Keith Schanck and Erik Schwarz (1:48.37); in fifth was Corey Stark, Carl Adair, Adam Craghead and Tyler Obenauf (1:55.80). Tim Stockton (1:54.50), P. Kaemmerlen (1:58.83) and Johann Bodensteiner (1:59.17) went 3-4-5 in the 200 free as Pittsford came back. E.J. Amyot extended the Fairport lead in the 200 IM, winning in a time of 1:59.67 with E. Schwarz third (2:06.23) and Kurt Schwarz fifth (2:14.87). Gavin Stark made it back-to-back wins with a first-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 22.35, and was followed by B. Carney fourth (23.74) and T. Stockton fifth (23.75). In diving, Pete Crane recorded the victory with a score of 243.65, Ryan McLaughlin was second (168.15) and Josh Hancock was fourth (76.55). In the 100 fly, A. Amyot took another first for Fairport in 57.06, Jeff Melvin in third (1:00.41), and A. Craghead fifth (1:02.80). In winning the fifth consecutive event for the Red Raiders, G. Stark swam a 48.35 100 free with B. Carney third (51.31) and J. Bodensteiner fifth (53.24). In the 500 free, Fairport held their own against Pittsford's strength with a 3-4-5 finish by M. McGraw (5:15.97), P. Kaemmerlen (5:22.29) and K. Schanck (5:35.13). Pittsford continued strong in the 200 free relay as Fairport managed only a 2-4-5 finish: G. Stark, T. Stockton, A. Amyot and E. Schwarz (1:31.31); J. Bodensteiner, Mike Dank, K. Schanck and Mike Steurer (1:39.56); and Dan Szweda, Jim Keeler, Robert Teeter and C. Adair (1:49.27). In the 100 back, great efforts by M. McGraw (59.33), E. Schwarz (1:00.22) and K. Schwarz (1:02.60) resulted in a 2-3-5 finish. E.J. Amyot got Fairport back in the win column with a first in the 100 breast going 1:00.60 with A. Amyot fourth (1:08.13) and V.J. Parthasarathy sixth (1:08.96). The 400 free relay team of G. Stark, B.Carney, T. Stockton and E.J. Amyot sealed Fairport's victory with a win in 3:22.27, followed by J. Bodensteiner, K. Schanck, P. Kaemmerlen and M. McGraw third (3:39.71) and T. Obenauf, D. Szweda, M. Dank and C. Stark fifth (3:55.14). Raiders reach 4-0
