November 22, 2000 - Even though several inches of snow accumulated and sub-zero like conditions hovered outside, several swimmers from Fairport heated up at the New York State girls swimming championships in Buffalo Saturday. The 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay teams each placed fourth and earned All-American considerations at Erie Community College's Flickinger Center. The 200 freestyle team of senior Krista Larson, juniors Jessica Blaha and Jamie Adams and sophomore Becky Potvin finished in 1:40.75. Senior Kristin Schirmuhly joined Blaha, Potvin and Adams in the 400 freestyle relay to produce the highest finish for a Section 5 team in the event in 3:41.69. Adams, the Section 5 Class A champion in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley at SUNY Brockport on Nov. 11, had a strong showing. Adams finished 11th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.63 and 12th in the 200 I.M. in 2:13.23. Junior diver Laurissa Prystaj took 17th on the one-meter springboard with 378.30 points. Junior Christy Breen placed 19th in the 500 freestyle 5:25.50 and 29th in the 200 freestyle in 2:01.43.
