Lost dual meet to Liverpool, December:

“The 1983 [Liverpool] meet was a big disappointment, as we were favored to win but a lot of weird and bad things happened that day and if it wasn't for bad luck that afternoon in Syracuse, there would be no luck at all. We ended up losing on the last leg of the last event and their top guy (Tom Lewandowski) ended up coming in ahead of me by about a half body length at the end. We finished 2nd in the state that year but clearly had the better team.” -Tom Shaulinski (1983)

The 400 Free Relay (Rose, Kennedy, Gordon, Shaulinski) won sectionals, states and set a new state record.
