![]() Members of the Fairport varsity swim team cheer home the final relays in their win over Penfield This was the season when records were meant to be broken. First, it was Fairport's defeat of Sutherland's ten-year dominance of the guys' varsity swimming record, then the Fairport girls' varsity team put an end to Penfield's six-year, 66-meet winning streak. The Red Raiders pulled out all the stops at last Thursday's meet at Penfield, winning by a score of 43-48. Once again, the meet went down to the final event, the 400 free relay, before a victor emerged. Fairport not only won the relay, but also set a pool record with a time of 3:48.06. Coach Marilyn Thomas said that Peel's record time also will get automatic all-American consideration. In the 100 fly, Jan Bender came in with a first place win and Mary Ann Fisher placed third. Christy Roscoe scored a third place finish in both the I.M. and the 100 back. Bonnie Carr earned a second place in the 100 Breast. Fairport captured the medley relay with a winning time of 1:58.9.
