Fairport 98, Rush Henrietta 72

Fairport's varsity swim team, ranked fifth in the state, defeated Rush-Henrietta, February 8, 98-72. Fairport set three pool records at Rush.

The medley relay team of Tom Goetz, John Mulhall, Dennis Peck and Dave Heacock won that event and set a new pool record.

Doug Lyles, Don Cropek, Mike Fortner and Kurt Hebert were third.

In the 200 free, Jim Wilcox was third and Fred Eggert fourth.

Matt Clark, Mulhall and Kurt Hebert placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 individual medley.

In the 50 free, Doug Peel was the winner with a new pool record. Teammates Goetz and Dave Pearce placed third and fourth.

Divers Don Potter and Tim Pullis placed first and third.

In the fly event, Peck turned in a fine performance but was disqualified from first place because of a technicality. Mike Fortner finished third.

In the 100 free, Peel set another pool record and won. Heacock was third and Pearce was fourth.

Clark, Jim Wilcox, and Fred Eggert went 1-2-3 in the 500 free.

In the 100 back, Goetz placed second, Heacock, third, and Doug Lyles, fifth.

Mulhall placed first in the 100 breast. Hebert was second, and Don Cropek third.

The free relay team of Wilcox, Peck, Clark and Peel placed first. Tom McLean, Mike Wess, Karl Newton, and Pearce were third in that event.
