From the 1979 Fairport High School Yearbook:

“This year's team marks the climax of four years of work to reach the top. Dave Heacock, Dennis Peck, John Mulhall and Don Cropek all started on the Varsity as freshmen. The next year the team picked up Matt Clark, Jim Wilcox, Tom Goetz and Don Potter. Each year, quality swimmers were added to the group to make the 1979 team one of the strongest in the state. Many school and pool records were broken by this team. Current school record holders on this team are seniors Matt Clark, John Mulhall, Dave Heacock and Dennis Peck; Junior Tom Goetz; and Sophomore Doug Peel. The team's great strength is its depth, which will continue to make it a good team for years to come. Through hard and dedication, this year's team has become the best swim team ever out of Fairport and they have established a tradition of their own that each team hereafter will be able to follow.”
